At this event, DCA discuss the findings of our Out at Work research and explores the challenges and opportunities for greater LGBTIQ+ inclusion.

While Australian organisations are increasingly developing policies to support and include their LGBTIQ+ workforce, there is still a sizeable proportion of these employees who are not comfortable being out at work. This is hardly surprising given our Inclusion@Work Index found LGBTIQ+ workers report lower levels of inclusion and higher levels of exclusion than their non-LGBTIQ+ colleagues.

At this event, we will revisit the findings of DCA’s research, undertaken with RMIT University – Out at Work: From Prejudice to Pride. The research found that employers can create safe and inclusive workplace environments where LGBTIQ+ people can be themselves.  We will also discuss:

  • What is working well within organisations
  • What enables being out at work and
  • Inclusion from the point of view of culturally diverse LGBTIQ+ individuals drawing on DCA’s recent research with Pride in Diversity called Intersections at Work.

Our moderator Stephen Barrow-Yu, Deputy Chair of the Victorian Pride Centre, DCA Board Member and Executive Director Management Consulting at KPMG, will explore with our guest panel the practical actions organisations can take to create inclusive cultures that enable real choices about being out at work. Our panel will include:

  • Dr. Raymond Trau, Senior Lecturer, Macquarie Business School, Macquarie University
  • TL Tran, Social Worker Care Coordination Team, Community Care Unit, ACON
  • Sally Goldner AM, Educator, Transgender Victoria and
  • Matt Callander, Communications Manager at QBE Insurance, and on the QBE Pride Committee

Please note – this a third party event we are recommending and not hosted by Bambuddha.
