With government and philanthropic funding becoming more difficult to secure, many NFP’s are looking to these new approaches to diversify their revenue streams. But before that happens, it’s helpful to better understand how these mechanisms work and the pros and cons of each to ensure its worth the considerable effort required.
This session will outline what impact investors are looking for, how to best engage them, what taking on impact investing will mean for your organisation and when to walk away. It will explain how social impact bonds and social bonds work, how they are commissioned, designed and contracted, how the capital is raised and the risk-managed as well as what social outcomes work best for these structures and why.
And the lessons from the last 15 years of social enterprise development will be discussed, exploring the three different types of enterprises and what financial and social returns you can expect from them.
